Cruise Control not working on my 1998 Audi A4 Quattro V6?

I have a 1998 Audi A4 Quattro V6 and my cruise control is not working at all. What are some of the possible causes of the cruise control system not working?

Can you turn a SOHC neon into a DOHC neon and if so how much would it cost and what would be needed?

The most common problem is the cruise switch on the steering column.less common is the vacuum hose connection on the vacuum motor for the throttle body and the brake or clutch switches.of course the fuse should be checked but I never seen one fail.
