How to read a ECU code?

i heard that the code on the ECU can tell you if its a v-tec and manual computer, how do i read this code? were can i get a automatic ECU that a v-tec at a cheap price?

yes you will need a vtec ecu the other does not have the nessacarys to let the vtec engage and stay runing
