Does anyone know where to find pics of the turbo manifold for an older toyota pickup??
Doug h has the right answer. Ford did that back in the late 80s to the mid 90s in an effort to reduce fuel emmisions in that motor. That motor was originally designed for the Ford Pinto back in the early 70s, and as such is not exactly the most fuel efficient motor compared to say the 2.3L Zetec of today's Ford Focus. How much does a Toyota Corolla weigh?

they did it to improve combustion and emissions. and ford did it for years. good luckWhat are the setting for the timing belt on a 1984 for ranger 2.3 engine?
On a 1996 Ranger it is a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine. All of the Ranger 2.5's had 8 spark plugs for a more complete burn to reduce emissions. This also worked to increase torque (you need torque in a truck to move weight when towing or carrying things). Over the years, there have been many engines like this.Incidentally, the newer Dodge 5.7L Hemi has 16 spark plugs for the same reasons... Imagine having to replace 16 platinum plugs, parts and labor at a dealership! This also means it is not a true 'hemi' because a true Hemi had a hemisperical combustion chamber with the spark in the center of the 'hemisphere', but they can't put two sparks in the dead center.
I know Ford and Nissan both played around with this. I used to have a Nissan truck with 8 plugs in a 4 cylinder. Under normal driving, if everything is functioning properly, only 4 plugs fire the cylinders, but when you punch the throttle the other 4 plugs help burn the fuel. Great idea, not sure how well it works in the real world, but my old Nissan was a fun truck. If only the frame didn't rust out.
