Answers:
Whats the best carb set up on a Ford V6 essex?
I had a '69 Plymouth Road Runner with the 383cid and an automatic transmission. The engine was completely stock including the Carter AVS four-barrel carburetor. It averaged 13mpg with the 3.55 ratio rear axle and 14mpg when I changed it to the 2.76 ratio. The worst mileage was 9mpg. The several 318s (5.2 L) I have owned, including all three generations of engines this size, averaged 15mpg. You may want to check to see if your speedometer/odometer is accurate. Tire/wheel sizes and axle ratios could have been changed in the past 37 years. I changed the speedometer pinion to compensate for the axle ratio change on my Road Runner.9 to 13 miles per gallon
