Question:
I have a 2000 TJ Wrangler 4.0. I recently had a wheel alignment recently done. I have been having problems with the steering alignment. While driving the wheel will become not centered. Today I drove around in the neighborhood making frequent right and left turns speed around 10 to 15 mph. While driving at this slow speed the steering returned to center. Seems to leave center at higher speed and faster turns. Any suggestions and advice is appreciated in advanced.
Answers:
Your wheel alignment could be caused by improper thrust angle alignment I suggest you take it into an authorized jeep dealer and have them take a look at it let them know what your problem is and they will for sure fix it.
Owners of 07 Dodge Nitro have you had problems?
Tire pressure or road crown, I've never heard of a steering wheel going off center then going back on its own being a mechanical problem. Are you holding the steering wheel offf center to get it to go straight? If so, I'd be inclined to say road crown/condition.I had a truck that i brought in 3 times before they got the allignment right! allot of times the machine is not calibrated, or the guy doing the allignment was working at the donut shop and has no training on the machine he is using!! if that isn't the problem have a mechanic check you tie rod and pitman arm! could be worn out!
