Got a 2001 mustang gt with a 5 speed. Everything works except the speedometer. Im stumped. any suggestions?

Most times the SPEED SENSOR has gone bad on the transmission. Any good mechanic should be able to scan your vehicle to see if it is true
It is also possible that the speedometer has gone bad. If this is the case then it must be remove and inspected. A repair could run upwards to $150 on the speedometer so a junkyard replacement may be a better option.

The cluster receives a VSS signal from the pcm over the scp network from the speed sensor..Here is how you can check your speedometer to see if it sweeps Depress and hold the SELECT/RESET button,turn your ignition to run,then continue to hold button down for a least 5 seconds.TEST should not display on the odometer.The SELECR/RESET button MUST be released within 3 sec of seeing TEST display to enter diagnostic mode.Depress button to advance throught to see if any dtc code will be displayed.If you have code you will have to bring it to the dealer.If no code check connections in behind the cluster for loose pins ,corrosion Hope this helpsMore Questions & Answers ...
