Is my gas mileage low?
I own a shop, and I have seen this a few times. What the problem usually is; When you fill the tank up with fuel, and the pump clicks off, a lot of people will put more fuel in it to top it off, or go to the next round figure on the amount of sale. This is bad! The vehicle has a system called the Evaporator purge. What this means is; at the very top of the tank is a small air space in which fumes accumulate. Rather than release these toxic fumes into the air, the purge system will (every so often) expel these fumes into the charcoal filter, and then either burn the fumes, or release them back into the air. When you fill your tank, and the pump clicks off, DO NOT put more fuel into the tank. All it will do is; if the tank is full, and there is nowhere else for the fuel to go, it will do one of two things. It will push the fuel out the fill tube, and/or up into the charcoal filter, and lines going to the filter. Put anymore in the tank, and it will saturate the charcoal filter, thus rendering the system to not operate. When this happens it will try to purge the fumes, and suck raw fuel into the engine instead of fumes. As fuel heats up in the day it expands, and requires more space. When there is no space, it will suck raw fuel into the engine from the purge system, and when it does the engine will rev up, and want to die, because you have more fuel in the engine than you do air. This will eventually cause other problems such as the O-2 sensor will go bad from the extra fuel in the system. When it clicks off at the pump, stop, and do not add any more fuel. Make sure the gas cap is in good condition, not leaking, and is sealing off good. If you will do this, you will see the problem go away.

Go to an auto parts store buy come fuel treatment that removes water from the tank. If that doesn't work, then check the spark plugs (missfiring?!?), replace the fuel filter, check then the efi, and then check the computer under the dash.
