i lost my remote key fob for my 1998 passat, (IN THE UK) and have been looking for a replacement, if i go to the dealers it will cost me over £100, i can get one on ebay for around £35, But the differ from mine altho they are for a passat, i presume a newer model, my question is will this work my car or if it can be coded to my car

I would ask the dealer if you can do this. If not, maybe a good independant shop can. The Stealership may charge you 65 pounds just to code it as they tend to not like it when you don't buy from them. Also ask the person on ebay if they know where to get it coded.
