How much mileage can a '98 bmw 528i take?
Depends what your goal is. The number one thing you want to do is ditch that catted uppipe. The turbo comes on around 500rpm lower and mid rpm lag is greatly reduced. After that the best bang for the buck is a turbo back exhaust and an ECU remap like cobb accessport or ecutek. Those three mods will just about put you almost into stock STi territory. Headers on a 2.0l and stock turbo really aren't worth it. You lose enough low end and only gain about 7-9whp up top(on stock turbo) to make it not worth it, even coated headers lose enough spool to make then not very appealing. An intake on 2.0l with stock turbo is pretty much for noise, no real gains at all. Intercooler on a 2.0l with stock turbo does more harm that good. It will fend off heat soak and reduce your charge temp a bit, but it will introduce quite a bit of lag. A crank pulley will free up a bit of parasitic loss but don't expect to feel it on the butt dyno, maybe 5whp. To me, your best low budget bet is uppipe, turbo back(preferably catless), and accessport, then have it protuned and you'll have a very happy little beast.1996 BMW 525TDS value...CAR WAS NOT SOLD IN AMERICIA?
After uppipe, turbo back, and reflash, the only way to go is up, and up in price, 2.5l bottom end, big turbo, stand alone EMS, all sorts of goodies, but with it comes the need for better tranny, better diffs, better brakes, and in the end you'ld save money picking up and STi as a starting block that going anything over the basic mods. The comes from experience, I used to own a wrx wagon with about $15k in mods(all go, no show), after picking up my STi I kicked myself in the butt for not getting one sooner.
What muscle car has the following characteristics ?
intake, exhaust, headers, and short shifter should be first on your list. then go for the big stuff, turbo and intercooler upgrades, wheels, tires, and brakes. there are a ton of parts available for this car, prices will vary greatly depending on the company.HEY! What do you think of this car?
Racing decals, steering wheel cover and shifter knob.1999 dodge caravan trans probs?
Unfortunately there aren't really any CHEAP ways to upgrade a rex. But the most affordable and effective would probably be a full exhaust, intake, then do some Engine Management work, such as the ECUtek or the Cobb Accessport. Both are good systems, and will unlock good amounts of power. You could do just the electronics, but you'll get bigger power gains if you do all three.More Questions & Answers ...
