71' Chevy Nova or 69' VW Beetle, which should I purchase?

Both are same price. The VW has a 2176cc dual port and the chevy has 350 small-block. Which car is most reliable and cheapest to fix between the two? Also I figure the chevy will down gas while the vw won't, and the chevy will more times than not outrun the vw as well.

Chevy hands down, not only that those vw bugs got terrible winter heat. Unless your worried about gas mileage and no heat then the bug is the better buy. if you want safety and willing to pay more for gas then the Chevy, the Chevy however is cheaper mechanical to maintain, parts are very readily available where the bug you may have to hunt.
