The LS (which is the six-cylinder version) put out about 166 hp when new. They can be very good cars; my 1995 model has 263,000 miles on it. Main trouble spots are the distributor (which on your car has most likely already been replaced), the automatic transaxle (the manual, on the other hand, is bulletproof; my clutch lasted 240,000 miles), and occasionally the rear brake calipers. Other minor things that can go wrong are tyupical for a ten-year-old car. The tires, in their proper OEM size (205-55R15) are difficult to find except on the Internet. Is there anything i can put in my engine if feel my transmission is a little slow?
This car is a two-door version of the Mazda 626 sedan, and except for styling and a slight difference in tire size, is mechanically identical to the Ford Probe (teh LS corresponds to the Probe GT). Parts for a Probe will almost certainly work for the Mazda MX-6. For other information, you may want to look at mx6.com.
