The Avalon is a bigger car than the Accord by 6.1 ", has 24 more horsepower, weighs 82 more lbs. yet STILL gets 2 MPG's better than the Accord. I'm a big Honda fan- they build great cars as does Toyota, but I've driven the Avalon , a loaded XLS, and it was a Lexus with a Toyota badgeand price tag! The Avalon is a more luxurious car and one of the best values on the road today. The accord is alot v6 quicker and the suspension is alot stiffer so it is got alot better handling. You wanna get the avalon if you want a car with a soft suspension and that glides on the road. The accord V6 automatic and avalon are both low 15 second high 14 second cars in the 1/4 mile, the Accord V6 6 speed is a low to flat 14 second car, it is significantly faster. In terms of handling there is no contest. The Avalon is a smooth refined midsized sedan aimed at the low end luxury market.
