I drive a 98 Beetle last morning i tried to start it up.. wouldn't start up but when i put my key in the alarm started going off. Its really quite strange. Anybody know what is wrong with my car?

Look to see if the car has a Security Feature to it. That may need to be Reset in order for you to be able to start the car, and thus may shut the Alarm off. My brother had that trouble with a '95 Golf. Battery died, so we jumped it, and in the process, that tripped the Security Feature. That had to be reset in order to start the car.First check the battery then call a towtruck : )

Your battery is probably discharged. If your battery is 5 years old, you probably need a new one. If your battery is fairly new (less than 3 years old), then have someone clean and reconnect the battery cables and then give you a jump start. Then take the car to a battery sales store and have the battery and charging system checked for free. Have the new battery installed if you need it.
