BBC's Watchdog have been running a story for several weeks about this now. It's really disturbing as over 1000 people have complained about this and yet Renault refuse to accept there is any fault with the car. I don't have a Renault, but I'm curious as to whether anyone out there has experienced this themselves? It sounds really scary!

crap french cars what do people expect?! french cars have always been poorly designed and cheaply bolted together. i saw watchdog its disgusting but thats renault for you. anyways, they'll be out of business in 10 years once the japs and koreans and chinese have taken over completely. the only european car manufacturers that can last will be German - BMW, Merc thats about it.I am hiring a renault clio 07reg at present and I had to take the tyre for repair this morning as I had a puncture. The guy asked me if I had any problems with the bonnet flying up. I personally would not buy a french car as they don't seem to have a very good reputation. Thank god this is just a hire car!
it is a renault problem caused by their service schedule of 18000m or 2 years.no lubrication on an item that is sited at the front of a car and gets all the road muck on =sticky catch
