when i put my truck into 4 wheel high, the light on the dash comes on and says 4 wheel high, but it wont come on in 4 wheel low. does this mean that it is not working or does the light not come on for 4 wheel low?

Are you stopping and putting it in neutral before you put it in four wheel low? It won't come on if you don't stop first. You should be able to tell when it comes on.Fuse panel in a 98 jeeep wrangler?
i mechanic for a living,,and there are two separate bulbs for this,,the one there in the switch has probably blown for it,,you might also want to make sure that it is actually locking in 4 low,,it may not be locking in,,there have been a few issues with some of the fords not locking in,they have an actuator that kicks them in,,and sometimes it doest work right,,also there have been reports of bad selector switch's on them also,,since this ones under warranty id take it back and let the dealer worry with it,,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.Quit listening to you Grampa and buy a Dodge

Check your owners manual. Ford, as much as I like their vehicles, seems to not like doing things the same way one year to the next. Yours may be one of those that can SHIFT ON THE FLY and you may have to be moving forward a bit to get the gears to mesh to complete the shift to 4 LOW.

On MY 1999 F250 I make sure the hubs are on "AUTO" then start the engine. Put it in neutral, shift into 4 HIGH, then into 4 LOW. I never "rush" it and give plenty of time for the shifts to occur. Never had a problem..
