Why does Mercedes Benz have more GT and Formula 1 victories than BMW?

Well, first of all Benz WAS the king but not anymore. BMW is way ahead of Mercedes right now, from sales to technology to performance, ect.
As far as your question... I'll tell you why.. Its because of the drivers. Its always about the drivers. Also Mercedes has been in racing before BMW. BMW started racing after WW2, but benz, raced way before that. And BMW got serios about racing only after BMW Motorsport Gmbh was incorporated in the seventies. And BMW only started in F1 racing in 2001 with the BMW Williams team. Even then, it suffered because it had no drivers capable to race Schumacher and his mighty Ferrari. And it had reliability problem.
But don't get me wrong,McLaren Mercedes isn't that good in F1. Horrible results and the worst reliabily in F1 history.Mercedes didn't win a world title since many many many years ago. In F1 Ferrari rules.
But back to our world, not the racing one, I say BMW is better than Mercedes, and I would choose one every day over the Benz.
If you disagree, you should test drive an M car such as M3 or M5. Then compare it with your benz. Chances are you're gonna see the difference.
