all of the above depend on time and money. Also, if you do some serious engine upgrades, remember to upgrade the transimission/rear end/suspension, depending on how much HP you increase.
Find a shop where you can do a Dyno test first, to see your $/HP increase.

But there are plenty of other things you can do. You can do exhaust. Headers all the way back. You can put a K&N filter on it. Those both should help a little.
I also removed my air conditioning pump because I had the tops. I just removed the a/c pump and bought a shorter belt.
You could look in Summit and Jegs for top end kits. That really helps too. They usually come with a cam, assembled heads, intake, and gaskets.
Also consider how long has it been since you did a tune up. Some new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, synthetic oil, oil filter, and fuel filter might help a little bit.
You can also chip it. Hypertech makes chips for it. You just have to pull the computer out from under the passenger side of your dash and there is a little panel on it. You pull the two screws pull the cover and there is a stock chip in there. Replace it with an aftermarket chip.
I also assume your 305 is Throttle Body fuel injected. You can find throttle body spacers for them that help out quite a bit.
Have you ever considered nitrous? You could give it a shot. I know a lot of people that use it. I haven't though so I wouldn't know.
Also search the web for third generation performance sites. There are a lot of them out there that only deal with the '82 - '92 Camaros and Firebirds. You could also search ebay. I found performance parts for mine all the time on there.

if you want a cheap small up, take out all your spark plugs and line up the gap in the spark with the inlet port. it makes the car burn better. if ya want to spend a small bit of money get platinum spark plugs. if you want to spend more get a low resistance air filter and a straight through exhaust (it will be a loud car if its to much put on a racing back box) but to make these work best you will have to get your engine retuned

several options (and combinations). depending on how many miles are on it,
1. fresh oil and filter every 2500 miles
2. a higher cfm carburator and high perf intake manifold.
3. get rid of the stock exhaust and go with either custom or aftermarket headers and tuned exhaust designed to fit your car. the last 2 options will allow your engine to breath better and sometimes (if the carb is properlyy tuned) will also improve fuel mileage, if you don't have a heavy foot on the pedal. these are the cheaper out of pocket remedies for more power and performance.

OK first of all I don't agree with any of the answers here. Sure all of them are going to add a little horsepower but so little that you are not going to really notice it with the exception of the chip. For Ex. the exhaust will add 10-20 you are not going to notice. You will notice a different sound but that is it. If you want to really add more to this car considering doing a 350 swap. I don't know how much money you want to put into this car but you could build you a 350 for 3000 dollars and that is all you would probally want for a while after driving a stock 305tbi around. JUST REMEMBER THE TOP END IS WHERE YOU GET YOU POWER IN A SB CHEVY. The motors will exchange and everything will bolt up just as removed.
