Question:
I have a nissan maxima 2001 gxe
Its has a 3.0 V6 with automatic transmission
my car has a odd problem, here it is:
When I start it up and put it in reverse (with foot on brake), it feels very smooth, the engine is not shaky and the car is very smooth. But when I put it in "Drive" or "2" or "1" (with foot on brake), it not smooth anymore. I can feel the steering wheel vibrating and the entire car becomes shaky.
I have 3 other cars (1 other nissan and 2 toyota's) they don't do this. They feel the same in reverse as they do in drive.
I heard the maxima supposed to be a smooth car, why is mine only smooth in reverse? any ideas?
Answers:
your on board computer automatically increases your engine r,p,m. slightly when you put your car in reverse........this reduces the need for two footed operation while in reverse......in your case .............try increasing your r,p,m. very slightly while in drive & holding your brakes.........it will probobly smooth out........if so get a good tune up.......or have a good mechanic look at it!

Simple, who's gonna end up on top Toyota or GM??
sympathetic vibration. likely a bad engine mount. engines are isolated from the car by rubber mounts. if mount fails engine to car contact is made and vibration occurs.Torque Specifations for 77-79 Ford 351ci modified 5.8 liter main bearins botls or caps.?
Sounds like a bad mount there buddy. Do this:1. Pop the hood and open it
2. Watch the engine while a friend shifts it from Park to Drive
3. If the engine moves in the car, its a mount.
