Are you talking about the plastic part of the handle, the grip? If you are, it's pressed on or tapped on. We used to heat them up with hot water or a heat gun which lets them slip on and then it cools and tightens. I found the best way to get them off is to cut them with an exacto blade or a very sharp, thin knife. Be careful as this plastic is hard and the blade tends to slip. Also watch where you do the cutting as if you cut further down than the handle goes on, your metal part of the handle will look like crap. Good luck.
