It is true that the earlier jettas were FAR more reliable than the later jettas (like the one you have.) However, the drivetrain is still alright. If it's an automatic, that will most likely be your weakest link. And, if memory serves me correctly, the Jettas used a sealed tranny, meaning you can't even change the filter or anything. A really stupid design. Drive it til 150k and sell it.More Questions & Answers ...
