I've had both. They both sucked in different ways. The ford sucked less, but it will be a long, Long, LONG time before I buy either one again.(I take that back, if I ever get rich enough to replace my cars every 3 years or 36,000 mile I might buy one. Both of them did OK until the warranty ran out, then they started breaking)

All depends on what you are looking for. I have talked to several (read: LOTS) of domestic car dealers and they like selling them. Why? Easier to sell a cheap car to someone with bad credit. Domestics don't hold value and move like hotcakes on used car lots.

dude definitely go with chevy, they last longer,more reliable,more stylish if you go with the newer trucks, and theyre just plain better. Ford means Fixed Or Rebuilt Daily, But, if you went with ford get a mustang.What make's a car not street legal?

Chevy cars are fine if you are looking for a cheaper way of getting your car packed with features: they tend to shy away from manuals (even the corvettes), the base models frequently include power doors and windows, but what you lose is quality, most of this equipement is crap, the seats feel like you're riding a horse and aftermarket parts are kind of limited.

For reliabilty it also depends on what type of vehicle: ford cars rarely make it to 100K, before '95 they had odometers with 5 digits on them instead of 6. Their trucks on the other hand are pretty good if you discount the f350 diesel which has a tendancy to have all kinds of engine troubles.

Chevy makes a nice little car, look at what all the car-rental places use (malibu). Their trucks are kinda here and there: suburbans are highly reliable and will go to 150k without engine problems but their suspension and interior get rocked at about 75K.
