If you're intent on a 4x4, I'd look at something from Toyota, Lexus or Honda. Japanese makes really are more painless to own than American or European counterparts.

Hi there. We've had 3 jeeps over the years and we rate them highly. The first 2 were 4l petrol and we converted them to LPG for better economy, We've recently bought a 3.1 diesel and love that too. We haven't had any major problems with any of our jeeps and unless we win the lottery (when I would consider a VW Touran), I don't think we'll be having anything else any time soon. Like all makes, there are the Friday afternoon specials,or lemons. I know some people have had all sorts of problems, and yet others never seem to go wrong! Service history is eveyrthing, Too many bills can be a sign of trouble, not just a careful owner !Beware of the water pump on the 4lt straight 6. Originals seem to last for about 50 - 60.000 miles but replacements can give up in only 20.000 (How do I know ? Been there etc)
