If its a 3.0L 2V. They do not blow head gaskts. But if you got it realy hot the heads will crack. if its a 3.0L 4V you have to pull the engine. setting cam timing is no fun. And without a book showing how. Even an expert. Would end up with a large boat anchor

call a slavage yard and they will come pick it up for free and maybe even give you some cash...or you can donate it and then write it off on your taxes... changing head gaskets isn't fun and if you have never done it i wouldn't try..espeically on a 98 taurus they arent worth that much money anyway
