1994 BMW 740iL?
On most vehicles, it's usually connected to the upper rad hose. But on this particular vehicle (you did specify the 3.0L 24-valve DOHC V6), you'll need to follow the lower rad hose from the radiator, to the other end of the where it leads to the thermostat housing, next to the lower area of the cooling fan. Remove the two bolts on the housing, and you'll see thermostat. You'll need to raise the vehicle on a hoist to access, on this particular vehicle. Hope this helps.
Why won't my 1994 Honda Accord LX (5th generation) automatic transmission start up?
The thermostat is at the engine block where the upper radiator hose joins the engine. You detach the upper radiator hose from the engine, and there's the thermostat. you may have to remove air cleaner housing to get to it, but to find it just follow the upper radiator hose. The hose knows.
