99 jeep grand cherokee...started about 3 weeks ago...light would only go on on turns for about 30 seconds or less.recently the light started going on on straight aways (freeways) and stay on for 3 minutes then go off.is it serious?

I was lucky that it was the ground wire that wore out first. because the guy told me that if it was the hot wire the bag would have gone off in my face.

i own a shop and it just got a bad sensor on it that's all, if it was any thing wrong with the air bag its self you,d know it by now,but the sensors do go bad once in a while,its probably the one in the front of the car sort of under it that's bad ,but have it checked to be sure,they can scan it to see which one it is,good luck i hope this helps.What gas mileage does your 6 cyl Honda Accord get? My 96 Accord gets 13mpg city driving. YUK?
My 99 Jgc had same problem few months ago. With engine running and vehicle stationary slowly turn steering wheel full way left to right (or right to left !) . At a particular angle of wheel airbag light will always come on. If so, you have a bad clockspring in your steering wheel. Hope this helps.Best regards.
