truck try a holley truck avenger if you can find a stock rochester 4 barrel carb they are good also called a q-jet. u need someone who is good with carbs to tune this one. if you are racing try edelbrock carbs. the q jet has a variable cfm from 770 to almost a thousand. but a 650 cfm will do good to. i just built a 350 and used the stock 4 barrel rochester with an aftermarket edelbrock intake and it kicked butt.quadrajet, if you want to bolt on and never worry or work on it.

The Edlebrock and Holly guys may call them quadrajunk but a quadrajet is one of the most dependabale my dad has one on his GMC high seirra and he has never had a problem even off roading in colorado...A well tuned quadrajet is hard to beat. Holly is crap right out of the box. They are difficult to tune and keep tuned. They are the highest maintainance carb out there. Edlebrooks carbs are built on the old fashioned quadrajet design.
If were you I'd find a good early model quadrajet and rebuild it. It will give years of worry free performance.

Edelbrock makes some of the better carburators. If you buy it new it comes with the installation manual and a tuning manual for that carb. So you can ideally set it for the type of performance that you are looking for. Do yourself a favor and don't by a Holley, unless you want to retune it everyday. Edelbrock or Quadrajet would be a good choice. They'll work forever and never give you trouble as long as they are installed right. a 650 cfm edelbrock carb is the simplest and easiest to maintain carb for that engine and while you are at it change the intake manifold to an edelbrock performer or performer rpm manifold and you will be one happy guy.More Questions & Answers ...
