i own a 1996 toyota celica st liftback with 125k miles. when the car is cool it runs fine but when it makes it to about half way on the heat gage the idle stars to drop and the car vibrates, also when it switches gears at higher heat levels it tends to "kick" into gear instead of switching smothly can any one help?

there could be a multitude of different things wrong the best answer I can give you would be to suggest that you take it to the dealer and have them put it on a computer and check it out. sounds like a vacume problem to me my toyota pickup did the same thing for a while till i found the leak does your motor make a hissing sound? if it does then try to find it by ear and replace the hose that is brokenHow hard is it to change the drive shafts on a Citroen AX ?
i think you should first check if you have a coolant leak or check level. if your celica engine uses a coolant operated fast idle valve then your problem could be that you are loosing pressure in your cooling water system. this fast idle valve operate by the temperature of the coolant. it allows your car to idle faster when the engine is cold .how it does this is that it allows air to pass the closed trottle blade when idling from a cold start up. as the coolant heats up the valve close gradually until it is fully cosed wen engine reaches operating temerature.if you have coolant leak or if coolant level is low this valve will not operate properly. the valve is located under the trottle body on intake manifold.More Questions & Answers ...
