Can you advise which petrol shall I chose 91 or 95 octane? I have a nissan primera 1991 / 1.8 lt. /sedan.?

I live in New Zealand and the price difference between two is 5 cents. I don't need a power. I want to Prolong life of my car so try to chose best for it. I want to keep this car for another 2 years. Will the petrol type make any difference for my engine health?

you can run 87 octane on most factory engines. especialy computer controled ones. Octane does not improve preformance or extend life. Higher octane does only one thing, it lowers the flashpoint of gasoline. the only time you need to go to higher octane is when the engine is knocking, or pinging upon acceleration.

You don't need anything beyond 89 octane for that thing. 95 octane for a low compression engine is just a waste of money.

Your best bet, that is if you have it in New Zealand, is to go with an 87 octane fuel. You will find that it will run it's best at that octane.
