Question:
I have a 2000 wrangler with a 3.5" lift and 31x10.5 tires on the stock wheels the problem is my tires are rubbing my control arm when I turn and it is causing a bald spot on the inside of my tire. does anyone know a good offset or backspace so this will not happen? I have looked at wheels and they all have between 3.25 and 3.75? Is that good? And what is my stock backspace?

I believe stock back spacing is around 5 or 5.5" The cheapest fix for your problem is to put a couple of washers behind the turn stops. I did that for my Jeep and barely noticed the difference in the turning radius.Looking for to buy some kick panels speakers for a 1974 monte carlo?
Offset and backspace are different measurements so make sure when you are comparing wheels that you always use the same one. Most manufactures will give you both. I like to use offset because it is the easiest to measure and visualize. To measure offset take a straight edge across the back of the rim and measure down to the mounting surface. So lets say a stock rim measures 5" and the after market rim measures 3.75" That means the after market rim will stick out 1.25" further than stock. (5-3.75=1.25) That has the effect of moving the tire 1.25" away from the control arm.
Get under your Jeep with a tape measure and with the wheels turned to rub measure how much space you'll need to stop the rubbing. (be safe OK)
If you decide on spacers make sure they are legal in your state. I'm not a real fan of them because good ones cost almost as much as aftermarket rims, and you are a fool if you use the cheap ones.
Are there any body kits for a 4 door 2002 alero?
The cheapest and easiest way is to add some wheel spacers. They add between an inch and an inch and a half of space to the wheels. You can find them at www.4wd.com. Also you can go to the jeep forum at www.4wd.com and post your question. There several Jeep owners will answer your questions and you may even find people who have had the same problem and how they fixed it.Does anyone know where can i find peugeot 407 engine specs & shematics for free ?
anngbell has good fix but you can also place a straight edge behind the tire and measure from the straight edge to the back of the wheel to figure out the backspace.More Questions & Answers ...
