Ford is getting ready to drop the Taurus soon. As far as features go. Both can come eqpt. with about the same stuff. It just depends on the size of your pocket book. The Taurus is larger than the Focus. If room is an issue for you. Also the Focus took the place of the Escort . Which (the Escort) was a crappy car. I have manage a auto repair shop for 13 years and have several customers that have both cars. The newer version of the Taurus is the better car. It has alot less issues than the Focus. You get more car for the money. The suspention, engine,drivetrain and body fit. Are much better in the Taurus. The ride (road feel) in the Focus sucks, you feel every bump in the road. The fit and finish of the car is cheap and does'nt last. The engine is under powered and has running issues. The 4cyl may save you alittle in gas, but will cost you more in repairs than the V6. The 3.8L and 3.0L in the Taurus will take alot more abuse than the 4cyl will. ie. not keeping up with the maintenance like most people do. Now I my self do not own Fords and just tell you what I see between the two.By what comes to my shop. You are the one who will have to live with the choice you make. Neither - I'm not a Ford fan and both of these cars are rather homely. However, if you must have an answer - probably the Taurus...Focus is too much of an economy car and really hideous. The Taurus isn't much better but it is a bit bigger.85 chevy c10 problem fuel filter? pump? something???
They are very different cars, and hard to compare. The Focus is more economical, and a decent small car, built on the same platform as the Mazda 3, and Volvo S40.The Taurus is a mediocre, mid-sized car. Neither of these are very good cars, but if you have to pick one, go for the Focus, because it gets much better gas mileage.
Taurus it has better features its bigger roomier better rated and made car of the year several years the focus is a waist of time and money
