Question:
This is an autopsy ! I put NEW pads and NEW rotors in yesterday (toyota) MY question is..the old pads (only 6 mos
old) had some cracks in them-they were cheap aftermarket ceramic . DID THIS kill (warped 3x) the rotor?

What make the car engine sound loud and good?
If your rotors are warped you will feel a pulsing sensation when you apply the breaks. At slower speeds it might feel more like you're applying and releasing the brake pedal even though you know you’re holding steady. At higher speeds it would feel more like a vibration.
I recently had an air intake kit put on my 99 Sunfire. Now the "Check Engine" light is on. Why?
You could have overheated the breaks (warping disks and cracking pads) if your driving is too aggressive, fast speeds and hard braking, or if you do a lot of driving in mountainous territory that requires you to be on the breaks a lot. If either of these are the case I'd suggest you spring the extra cash for a better brand of pad and some vented rotors. If you think your driving is on the mild side, I'd at least say to avoid that particular brand of pad.
As I mentioned before ceramic is about the best for keeping cool. The cracks are more than likely due to an installation or removal issue when the rotors were turned. ceramic is more brittle than other pads. I don't think the cracked pads wrecked the rotors. I would be more inclined to believe the rotors wrecked the pads from being warped and chattering as well as removal and installation. Cheap Rotors.
Agree with the top "Big D" and add that 'cracking' sounds like a heat problem. You don't drive with two feet do you? as that usually adds to the heating of the pads by the rotors as most people who drive with two feet ride the brake pedal slightly and that generates the heat that does lots of damage.
How to install windsheild wipers on a 2002 audi a6.?
have you checked the calipers to see if the piston is retracting properly when you release the brake pedal?Another common cause of warped rotors is improper tightening of the wheel lug nuts. The nuts should be tightened in a star pattern to the proper torque value.
