That vehicle used a power steering pump that was integrated with the power brake assist system. In that system is a black nitrogen accumulator located below the power steering reservoir, near the brake master cylinder. You may have burst the membrane separating nitrogen gas from fluid in that accumulator, you may have a leaking steering rack (filling up the boots but not yet leaking externally), a faulty hose, etc.Where can i get cheap megan headers for scion tc?
Once you've found and repaired the leak, the proper method to fill the power steering reservoir is to add some fluid to the reservoir, then firmly pump the brake pedal approx 20 full times with the engine off. This will evacuate the fluid trapped in the accumulator and the fluid level will slowly begin to rise in the reservoir. You can view this while you're pumping the brake pedal. Alternate pumping and adding fluid until it's about 10 mm (1/2") from the top of the reservoir.

Hey, when you top off your fluid make sure you crank the wheels both ways to the very extreme positions. This will help pull the fluid into the pump better. I would reccomend doing a flush on your power steering pump. If that does not work, you may need a new pump. Hope that helps.More Questions & Answers ...
