i just bought it and everyone that I know says that there a pain in the *** and that you never can find parts for them when they brake down well I have went to several junk yards in muncie indiana and i can't find nothing. I need the power stiring pump pully replacement . because basically I have called everyone and asked around but the only place that I can get one is the chrysler dealership and they price theres at like $300 and when ever i call a junk yard they only want maybe 20 -40 dollars so i was wanting to go in that general direction so if you could leave me any comments that could help I'd apreciate it . thank you

If you need just the pulley, it should only cost about $70 at the dealer. The pulley is part number MR197499.

If you need the pump and pulley assembly, the new pump is about $350 list (part number MB910655). The new pump includes a pulley.
But there's a reman pump assembly available for about $75 plus a $15 core charge (part number R910655M). The reman pump may not include the pulley, but I'd order it first to see if it is, then order the pulley if it isn't included.

It has been several years, so it is possible the reman pump is discontinued or on backorder and that's why they priced you a new one. It's worth a call to check out, though, give them the part number and have them check it for availability. If they tell you it's discontinued, ask them if there's any dealers showing it on the dealer locator. If they act like they don't know about the dealer locator, or say they don't have a locator, call another Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep dealer. They may order it from the other dealer for you, or give you the information for the other dealer and let you order it.
As far as getting a used one, the same power steering pump and pulley is used on 1995 to 1999 Avengers, Sebring coupes, and Talons.
There are several versions of that car. Look for Mitsubishi Eclipse or Plymouth Laser parts. Either way its almost a 13 yr old car and wasnt a huge volume seller. Parts will be hard to find and possibly expensive.

The was the lowest volume seller of the 3 cars.Don't listen to your friends that say it's a piece of junk/pain in the butt. There are plenty of parts available for these cars. I race a 1G Eclipse (soon to be Laser), and I go through parts left and right. Try www.mitsubishigraveyard.com, ebay, dsmtalk.com, etc. You'll find the parts you need. And also, if you like your car, forget what anyone says about it. I was made fun of for my Eclipse for a long time by coworkers until a day at the track when I started winning their vehicles.
