They are awesome cars but you will have to watch for rust around the rear windshield and floorboards as the doors tend to droop and the windows don't seal up very well, but that problem is easily fixed. While gas mileage is a concern you are buying it for it's looks not how efficient it is, Pontiac made some great cars back then and the T/A in my opinion is one of the sexiest, except of course for my GTO, which by the way goes really fast and gets really bad gas mileage, but there is nothing like cranking it up and feeling that motor come to life, makes the whole car shake just sitting in traffic.Anyone know if rebuilding a 440T4 how hard is it,any links?
Not really they do use alot of gas that is about it and they are not real big for passangers in the back seattheyre unsafe, use an outrageous amount of gas, handle like a boat, and are unreliable (it IS 37 years old after all).

Certain parts might be a problem to find, because it is a collectible there is alot of aftermarket parts available, but everyday driving causes wear and tear, some parts you cant go to the auto parts store and buy, but they are available. Insurance, because a 70 T/A is worth alot more than a 70 firebird you have to insure it as such. If you are involved in an accident, make sure your insurance pays what the car is worth. Look for rust in the rear subframe. You can sometimes see it from looking just in front of the rear tire and if that looks good, get under it and look at the very bottom of the frame rail for rust. Inspect this part well. Check the bottom of the doors for rust on the inside around the weather strip area. I don't think they handle like boats either...
