What I can tell you about Ford... no joking... the better majority of cars are made well and people are happy with, but those that have problems seem to have re-occurring problems with the same issue over and over again.

I would go to the nearest Ford dealer early in the mourning definitely before 8 am... park and sit in the service area to see how many are coming in and ask some of the owners as they leave their car for service if it was me and I wanted to know about service issues.

Ford had a few quality issues with rear brakes on the first ones (2005 MY would have early wear out of pads) other than that, other than routine maintaince, I don't see them in the shop until it's 50,000 miles (for a set of tires and brakes basically)

On the downside, they pretty much repel the opposite sex, look a little bit like a station wagon, and handle like a station wagon. It's not sports car, but it was very functional. It held all the stuff I needed to haul around all the time.

The Ford Freestyle is now in its 3rd year and is an absolutely amazing vehicle. It doesn't get enough recognition since Ford didn't do the greatest job to market this vehicle. It is built on the Volve P2 platform, which they use for their wagon model, and Ford also uses for the Five Hundred. They use a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) which is also Volvo's and performs extremely well (it has no gears). The safety systems are also Volvo's and it was one of the safest vehicles when tested in 2005 (still is). They also have great service records and have had no major issues since they came out.
