slk55 amg will outperform the sc430 anytime, any lexus will outlast any benz. if your looking for fun and do NOT want to worry about spilling a cup of latte in your shiftgate and frying your electronics...go with the lexus. if you want bruising performance and have full warranty...go with the benz.What year was the M45 introduced? Benz is ok, AMG makes it better..but it can give issues over time. Hard choice between the two. I'd have to lean back towards Lexus and look over at the GS's.

SLK55 AMG is better in almost every aspect, minus reliability and maintenance costs. The SC430 is outdated, and its time for a major redesign. It was absolutely stunning when the current body debuted though.Will a 91 Accord grill fit on my 93 accord?

They both offer quite different driving experiences. The Lexus is impeccably built and reliable, but is not very sporty or overly fast. The Mercedes is crazy fast in a straight line and will handle, but they have been very unreliable as of late.Can i change my non turbo 240sx to turbo?
I would look elsewhere for a high end convertible. The Mercedes offers almost everything you could want, but it will spend a lot of time in the shop. The Lexus should be a troublefree car, and a joy to drive on the boulevard, but is not fun to hustle around corners and is cramped inside.

I would look at a Porsche Boxster and the BMW 6 series convertible. They are priced in the same range and should be reliable enough and outhandle both the Mercedes and the Lexus. Forget about the Cadillac, while it is a nice enough car, depreciation will be brutal. The New Jaguar XK is also tempting, but again the depreciation will be very high, and Jag reliability is pretty bad too.

Consumer reports will say it all. Mercedes, Volvo, BMW's and most European cars have dropped significantly in reliability and dependability over the past decade while the Japanese (Acura, Lexus & Infiniti) have surfaced as the most reliable rides on the market. The AMG, if memory serves me, is a phenomenal drive; however, and this is a huge however to those of us that like cars, European cars as a whole have consistently (over the past 10-12 years now) received extremely low marks on dependability and the repair record is among the industry's worst. Thier repair records are equal those of the Yugos from 15 years ago! But, for the best answers, look it up on either JD Powers, Edmunds or Consumer Reports, where you'll get feedback from >10,000 owners of these cars as opposed to the opinions of 5-10 car addicts here..
For me, if my car has a special home in the repair shop, if the mechanics have given it a name like Sophia or Molly, if the shop has named a door or wall after me, and they all have a personal relationship with me and my car... and if the neighbors always see me driving that cool bright red, Ford Fusion rental/loner from the shop, then I own the wrong car- PERIOD!
Its no surprise that mercedes makes awsome looking cars and I know that the slk55 amg will smoke the sc430, but if you want a reliable car go with the lexus. If you look in consumer reports you will find a lot of black negative mark for every benz, but the lexus has excellent reviews. If you have series cash to spend then I guess it really doesn't matter huh?

Im actually considering buying the Lexus SC430 in a year or two, i would go with the lexus, i have the LS430 currently and the ride and durrability is unbelivable! Mercedes is nice as well, but i feel that Lexus/Toyota has a better wear and tear success rate compared to Mercedes. Besides the cost!More Questions & Answers ...
