The repair shop at my local Saturn dealership told me today that the thumping sound coming from the rear area of my 2005 Saturn Vue is normal and that I can't even pay to get it fixed. He also told me that all Vues do this. Please let me know if yours does or doesn't. Thanks!

i own a repair shop,and he told you tight on that one,its a defect that don't hurt anything at all,its hitting the rubber bumper on the bottom,and it will do that ,there is no cure for it either,i have one customer that traded theirs back in on a different vehicle because of this,they said it was getting on their nerves,but as of now its something that you have to live with,or trade it like they did,,i know this isn't what you wanted to hear but its all i can offer,good luck i hope this help,s.what thumping sound?!? are you talking about a sub woofer? is it more of a rattle or a thump? is it when you hit a bump? is there a little gnome jumping around in the trunk? what do you think the thump is coming from? Ive rode in my buddies 05 VUE and there was no noticable 'thump' it was a smooth ride from what I could tell
I own a 2003 Vue but I'd need a little more info to help. Is it a 4 cly or a V6? Automatic or manual tranny? Front Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive? Does it make the noise all the time or only when raining or inclimate weather?

The other thing to do is to test drive another Vue that is equiped the same and see if it makes the noise too. Have the dealership prove it to you.
