its a zetec, its on the inlet manifold, right by/on the big EFI letters, its a round cylinder with a 2 pin plug and it has a blue and silver ford sticker on it. also has a black hose going into it.
I think its in the carburettor, not sure, but somewhere in the back of this thing of mine called a brain, (ha ha) i seem to remember. Good luck to you, and sorry if i'm wrong.

You should be able to see it where the throttle rod goes into the throttle body or carb.I have a Skoda octavia 2 ltr tdi is it a good idea to superchip it to 180 bhp any disadvantage?
Actually for a 96 Escort you have injection not Carbs... unfortunately without seeing the car i wouldnt be able to point the valve to you but from the top of my head again all depending on what engine you have its either next to the rocker cover (More or less where you put oil in it) or near the inlet manifold which is at the front of the engine... its usally like a wierd oval shape(thats the best way i can put it into words) with a electrical connector and 2 retaining bolts which are usally 10mm...
