Question:
Have replaced O2 sensor before Cat., about a month ago. Today, vehicle started fine, but won't go faster then 50. ALSO fuel consumption has gone to 'hell in a hand-basket' Still has OEM Cat., and plug-in code read show no faults.
As a footnote, vehicle is complete stock and currently 72k on odometer, with automatic trans., with recently tuned-up.

i own a repair shop, and do this for a living,,you need to have it checked to see if the computer is advancing the timing on it,it sounds like its not, also have the cat checked to see how much back pressure it has on it,i service a lot of these trucks, and they usually run and drive really good,,i have seen a few of them that had faults with the timing that wouldn't show up on the scanner though, and it sounds like yours might be doing it also,if it has no codes at all in it this could be a sign of a faulty control module,id have it checked out real good, one more thing i need to mention,if the all the spark plugs were gaped at the wrong setting it will will run good but will also act like it has a governor on it,,which is what yous is doing,,there's a lot of things it could be,,you,ll just have to narrow it down by checking it all over real good until you find it,,good luck with it,hope this help,s.,happy new years.CIVIC vs ALTIMA? I havent been in an Altima before...any suggestions?
As Dodgeman said, there's a lot of things it could be. You said you already checked and it has no codes so the first place I would start would be the fuel pressure. I have seen this one before where it starts OK but won't go much past 50 mph. Usually it's the fuel pump not putting out the proper pressure. Critical on fuel injection.Check the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter too. These will cause your mileage to go to heck because you no longer have the correct fuel/air ratio. Could be other things but I'm betting it's a fuel problem.did a 75 chevy truck come with self cancel signals?
hit the cat and see if it rattles,, probably will...i have sold about a hundred of them...good luckAnybody with kids or dogs own a FJ 07?
Possibly a crank position sensor or cam position sensor. They will idle fine with no noticable difference but when you start getting higher in RPM's the thing runs like crap. If these go out I've found they don't tend to show up on the trouble codes.is ford fusion better than camry or accord?
