Heater core would be your worst case scenario.
Is the carpet wet near the clutch pedal? (if it's a manual). If so, it could be brake fluid from a dying master cylinder.
If not then lift the carpet and look for rust holes, then make sure your sunroof drain tubes are intact, and finally, it can come into the body from the vent passages on the rear quarter (which has been known to find its way to the driver/passenger footwell).

If you are useing your a/c sometime the drain pipe for the condensation that is mostly water from the air inside your car drains to the outside,if you see a water spot on the ground outside under the right side of your car close to the firewall it is not that.if not there is a drain under your a/c housing where the evaparator is and it will need to be cleaned out. the a/c doesnt cool the air it takes the heat out of the air as it circulates the hot air from inside your car as it is passed through the evaparator and this is where the water comes from.
