Ford 300 inline 6?? Is it worth it?
I own a shop, and have seen this many times in my life. It wouldn't actually hurt the motor to run it for a brief period of less than 5 minutes at a time. You must not forget the cooling system will not work, the alternator will not charge the battery, and the battery needs to keep all the power in it that can be in order to not loose your presets. Starting it to keep the engine lubed shouldn't make any difference unless it will sit for a long time. You are thinking the lifters need to be kept pumped up probably, but I wouldn't worry about that, or keeping it lubed at all. If it has, or will sit for like months at a time, then it would in fact be a good idea, but do charge the battery to keep it up too.Glad to help out, Good Luck!
no its not ok you can do more damage to your engine
Why bother at this point? You will run the battery down , The water pump will not circulate the coolant. The serpentine belt is easy to replace. There should be a "map" on the hood or on the cross member near the radiator.
does anyone know where i can find a pair of high flow cats for my 05 chevy truck?
No longer then a minute. your water pump will not be working - no coolant circulation. How do you keep the battery charged with no operating alternator? Why not toss on a new belt. You then can heat the motor and charge the battery.why am i the only question in the Jeep catagory?
NOBuy a belt
