your starter is out. probably need to replace the whole thing, including the selinoid. if you keep clicking the key to try to start it, it might still start. You have a bad spot on the starter. if you crank the key, it causes the starter to shift a little keep this up and you may be able to start it, but don't depend on this method unless you have to. cuz it could take hours to get it to a point where it will start. You need a new starter.Where can i find an infiniti dealership in oakland california?
The clicking you hear is the selinoid (I always misspell it) trying to crank your car. Replace the starter.
You might be able to replace it, or it could be difficult if you have never done a starter before.

You might try taking a small hammer and tapping (lightly) the starter solenoid. Sometimes crap gets built up in there. I am kind of shocked that the starter would go out on a 2003 MY car.Whats the difference between the BMW series 1 through 7?
First Off, yes you can replace a starter, it is not built to the engine. You should first check you battery and battery cables to check for any corrosion. Clean off the battery and terminals (go to a auto parts store and buy a terminal cleaning brush, $5.00 or just use some baking soda, water and a wire brush). and try starting it. You might even need a jump, if those don't work then it could actually be the starter. If you just hear clicking (which is coming from the starter) it could not be enough power going to the starter from the battery or it could be the solenoid getting stuck. A light tapping on the starter housing could loosen it. If its a 2003 the starter should be fine, but who knows you could have just got a bad one. What to do with an unlimited amount of tires?
If the sentra had a separate SOLENOID perhaps.have someone turn the key to start position and hold it there. take a large bar or hammer and tap the starter fairly hard a few times. did it start or at least try?? starter is bad
