Question:
Quick run down; Rover 200 V1 (not sure if that means the same to you as where I live; Switzerland)Yr 97, 68,000km, 1796ccm,+after garage servicing with current MOT, all mod cons. Price, approx, 2,800 pounds, plus, it is a particularly nice shade of metallic green. Been reading old questions about Rovers, sounds like the general opinion is pretty much thumbs down. Still, I feel it is worth asking anyway, as it has such low km's and has lived all it's life here in Heidiland. Very strict they are here, plus, 99% people look after thier cars and chattels with the utmost respect. Even tho I am but a lassie, I do take interest,+until now, have watched top gear Xtra religiously; (the mean buggers have changed to digital now, so can't keep,up for the mo)(My next ? on Yahoo will be about satellite dishes!) So, with the tiny bit of info, what do you think? Don't expect it to last 20 yrs but is it reasonably reliable?Parts available in Switzerland?Who actually took over Rover? Appreciate all info

Sounds like the 1800cc variable valve timing engine, You will need the workshop manuals and a competent Rover trained mechanic to maintain it if it is the Variable Valve Timing, VVC engine but regular oil and coolant and Cam Belt changes should keep it going for many years, but proper maintainance is vital. The K series engine dragged the very heavy Freelanders around and suffered through being thrashed because of the exessive weight, causing blown head gaskets, 200s are too light to suffer this problem.More Questions & Answers ...
