i have a 1986 mercury cougar and a 1996 chevt lumian neither 1 will start both only clicks 1 time when you turn key and then nothing all lights work. have replaced battery alternator starter solnoid can someone help me please

If you've recently replaced all of those components on both cars, check the connections between the wires. This sounds suspiciously like a loose wire. If that is the case, you may have solved your problem for cheap!

check the battery cables on both ends at the battery and on the negative at the frame

So check spark related problems (you've already done some). Have you done the starter and not just the solenoid? How about the plugs and wires? What about the coil or coil packs? How about the distributor and cap & rotor (N/A if you have coil packs)? How about the ICM?

After you've checked everything spark and fuel related, it's time to check compression, which unfortunately means you're probably screwed...
