Why does everyone say a Gov-lock is junk?

Question:
I am in the process of making a truck from two or three junkers. I have put a 1-ton rear in the one I am building. I now has a Gov-lock unit in it and I want to change it because I have always heard that the Gov-lock is junk. This rear has many miles of trouble free service on it. Why does everyone one always say a Gov-lock is junk?

Answers:

why is my exhaust makng loud noises and keep coming loose and how can i make my aprila sonic 50 look better??

I don't know why they say that but I never had to fix one in my 35 yrs working on trucks and cars. Must be a reason-maybe they don't go bad that often. You didn't say what hp engine but a 1 ton is pretty HD.
I'm not all that familiar w/ "gov-lock" but unless you want to spend lots of $$$ changing it I would run it till or if it breaks.

can parts from a 2002 nissan primera fit a 1999 nissan primera?

I agree with Old man wrench. If it ain't busted dont fix it.

Power windows and locks, how hard to convert?

The gov-lock in ur rear unlocks at about 15 mph. Also under hi horse engines when pulling loads u will break it eventually otherwise if u dont care if u have both wheels locked together u can run whatever u want even after the gov-lock is broke. the rear will work fine
