Speedometer trouble with 2002 passat?

Question:
The speedomoter in my 2002 passat is sweeping wrong. when i accelerate the needle ticks like a cheap watch instead of sweeping normally. does anyone have any ideas on hoe to fix this?

yep, a drive gear broke. Best to get another speedo. Try the wreckers. To fix this takes a day, kitchen table, small screwdrivers(watchmaker type stuff) epoxy and a mechanical mind and patience. Easier to get a wrecker unit. That is hassle enough just to swap them.

you have dust in your instrument panel. Take it apart and clean it. Carfully put it back together.
