Question:
I have an 87 Comanche with the 4.0 straight, five speed. It has less than 85k. Normally, it idles soundly and sometimes you almost wonder if it is running because it is so smooth and quiet. Recently, the idle has begun to rev high (3500rpm) now and then - maybe a couple times an hour when driving around town. I can mess with the throtle and no results.
looking for someone from the watford area(uk) who can fit in car entertainment.systems?

What is the diference between a F - 150 and a F - 350?
Since it occasionally idles high, it could be just a sticking IAC, Idle control valve mentioned above.Have encountered a sticking gas pedal on chevrolet S10 4X4?
General maintenance: Get a can of carburetor cleaner, T-20 torx screwdriver and a new Throttlebody gasket. Remove the Throttlebody and the IAC: clean with carb cleaner and wifes toothbrush, but don't spray into the IAC motor, just the surface of the pintle. A 30 minute job. This should help, but not likely to resolve the issue completely.
Where can i download an owners manual?
Resolution is to buy a new TPS, also attached to the Throttlebody with T-20 torx screws. Then perhaps a new IAC motor.
Why is my Honda Prelude making rattling noises?
Cheap resolution is to disconnect the IAC at the Throttlebody when it is idling normally. Then forget about it. The 4.0 will not throw an engine code and emissions will be unaffected. You may have a rough idle starting in very cold temps, but should idle normally after 45 seconds of driving.
What is the difference between Mazda 6 and Mazda 6 MPS?
vacume lines are something check. there is a yahoo group "RENIXPower" that has alot of information about the early 4.0 with the renix fuel injection that might help youwill a 3.8L Mustang power tuner work on 4.2L F-150?
Sounds like you might have debris on your idle air control motor(IAS)which will allow un-metered air flow into the intake manifold. I would try cleaning the throttle body(where the air enters the intake manifold) You made need to take the sensor out to clean it /replace it. I think if you had a vacuum leak the problem would be continuous. On my 89 jeep Laredo 4.0, there is a small electrical automatic idling device on the intake or carb. manifold. Two screws hold the part on the intake dont over tighten because it is aluminum. The wiring just plugs into the device.
