the cataltyc converter may be bad thats part of your exhaust system that happened to my cougar. your tires may need air that also burns fuel fast. I don't think worn out tires will burn a lot of fuel.Yes, there is no traction and the tires are literally spinning... further, if your tires are LOW then they do burn my gas as well.

But so can dirty injectors, dirty fuel filter, SOMETIMES a bad cat can cause fuel problems but its not as common. Dirty air filter also! If your tires are bad replace them. And have your fuel system cleaned and have the air, fuel filters replaced. If it doesn't help then you might have other serious problems.
