I have a 2.000cc 1997 automatic ford galaxy and in need of a reconditioned gearbox but on searching their seems to be 3-6speed transmission boexes so which do i get? My car has P/N/D/1/2/3 so any suggestions?

Ha ha....Have you been driving this car already? If you don't know how many gears you have then that's why you need a new one.just ask at the ford dealer. but itll be a 4 speed. 123 and drive. and why a new gearbox, in over 20 years ive never had a box fail..its usuallly the torque converter which needs fluid. to check accurately start car, go thru prnd123..and back, 123dnrp AND BACK TO DRIVE..this fills all the chambers and gives you an accurate reading.
and if you do need a box, youre looking at 500 quid fitted. look in autotrader.co.uk

You have a 4 speed box - but not for the reason some people are giving. The REAL mechanics are correct.You have D for 'drive', and 1,2 & 3 as range limiters - ie. to hold it in 1st, or just 1st & 2nd, or just 1st,2nd & 3rd.
