here's a trick to test the alternator.start the car and have it running pull the positive wire(red) off of its post.the car shoul stay running with no problem...if it shuts off then your alternator is not charging to its full potential.Sounds like you may have a shorted cell in the battery or your alternator is not putting out the right voltage. With the engine off, use a voltmeter and see if you have 12.0V. Start the engine you should have 13.5 or .6V. If these figures don't match you have a problem somewhere.
Is there anywhere in leeds I can walk in and have my volvo radio decoded while I wait. Thanks?
You need to check if your alternator is supplying full voltage. With the car running above idle speed, you should measure close to 14 volts across the battery. If it is much less, your alternator is bad. If the voltage is good while the car is running, chances are your battery is defective and won't hold a charge.Where can I find the lever to open the bonnet of a fiat punto?

sounds like the voltage regulator is bad, i'd buy it first, because you should put a new one in with a new alternator anywayMore Questions & Answers ...
